Many of you know what is a Scrum retrospective. Some also know there are a lot of different retrospective. And those who are Scrum master already searched the web to find a fun retros.
Well, you surely had a lot of Scrum retros in you professional life. And maybe you had too much classical retrospectives and start to be tired of playing each sprint the “positives, negatives, ideas, actions” one.
Even worst, as you play the same retrospective each sprint, you start to babble the Scrum retrospective and it’s really not a good practice.
Scrum retrospective : WRAP it !
Ok, sorry, but in this post, I’m not about to talk about a fun retro, but about a important milestone retrospective, the WRAP !
If you want to know more about the different kind of retro, even a fun one, I’ll write some articles about that later, stay tuned 😉
I’m currently reaching a milestone in my team project. So it’s the ideal moment to plan the WRAP retrospective. It consists mainly of a time to let the team congrats each other and eventually raise alerts on some topics.
Wishes, Risks, Appreciations Puzzles
Wishes : this may seem too familiar, but it’s still relevant to know what your team wish to work better. Let them express themselves about anything if needed. Ah, and if they are talking about the weather, don’t spend more than 30 seconds on the topic.
Risks : as we just reached a milestone in the project, this is probably the most important kind here. As they develop from day to day, who’s better than them to identify potential risks that could bring chaos ? Or put the project deadline in danger ? Maybe they don’t communicate to you because they’re “in the run” ? So having a dedicated time and space to discuss about potential risks is a must. Don’t underestimate it !
Appreciations : reaching a milestone in the project is also an opportunity to thank teammates But even better, let them congrats each other. You can also prepare candies, soft drinks, etc, to celebrate successes. It’s really important for them to feel valuable. This point is also very important.
Puzzles : sorry, it’s not game time. (Even if I had the chance to work in a big society with a Playstation ready for break times). But it’s the place for still unanswered questions (it’s a good idea to subtitle each WRAP items when you will create your board). Yes, simply, let them ask questions if needed, or come back to previously suspended questions.
I hope this retro will help you to correctly mark the hit at a special milestone in your Scrum Agile project.
